Our trip leader, Nicole, is your Modern Adventure host, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable trip for everyone. She will be your go-to for any and all questions around our daily flow, meeting points, times, what to expect and any questions or concerns that may arise.

In 2017, Nicole left her secure corporate career for the life of a full-time adventurer. For over a year, Nicole drove across North America in her Subaru Forester, visiting as many National Parks as possible (she ultimately made it to 43). One of her most memorable experiences was backpacking to the breathtaking Havasupai Indian Reservation in the Grand Canyon.

Speaking with Nicole, you would never guess that she was born and raised in the heart of New York City. With her clear passion for the outdoors and conspicuous lack of a Brooklyn accent, she’s more at home under towering trees than massive skyscrapers.

In the last 5 years, she’s worked as hiking guide in Yosemite National Park, then a multi-day Adventure Guide in the US Southwest. Nicole currently lives in Moab, UT with her partner, Jamie and their rescue dog, Chuck.

Our local guides are backcountry experts. Each is medically certified as a Wilderness First Responder and carries the appropriate qualifications to backpack and hike throughout Alaska’s wilderness. Our guides are here to ensure the group has an authentic backcountry experience while ensuring safety is a priority.

They are also your your camp cooks—serving up delicious hot meals after long days of hiking—and your naturalists, there to help you get the most out of the amazing landscape you’ll be trekking through.
